Sentences handed down in the Supreme Court of Tasmania are generally published on the Court’s web site on the day the sentence is imposed.

Latest Sentences (Sentences appear in the order they are posted on the web site – this date may be later than the date of the sentence.)

Sentences from 2005, imposed more than one month ago, are available at:

Tasmanian Sentences from 2005-

If you cannot find the sentence you are looking for it may be because:

  • it was imposed prior to 2005; or
  • initials have been used rather than the person’s surname (if suppression of a name is required by law). This occurs when the offender is under 18 years of age or there is a requirement to protect the identity of the victim.

For information about sentences prior to 2005 email the Supreme Court Library (SupremeCourt.Library@supremecourt.tas.gov.au) or telephone the Library on 6165 7446.

Statistics about certain sentencing outcomes imposed in the Tasmania Supreme Court in 30 crime categories (involving custodial terms of imprisonment) for the period January 2001 and December 2014 are available at the: Sentencing Advisory Council Tasmania.
