HOBART REGISTRY MATTERS
All short applications originating from the Hobart Registry will only be heard by the Associate Judge on Tuesdays. 5 minute matters will be dealt with in 30 minute blocks commencing 9.30 am. 10-20 minute matters will be listed in 60 minute blocks commencing at 11.00 am, and if time is left over, other matters will be listed for the balance of the day, shortest time estimate first. Applications with an estimated hearing time of 20 minutes or less filed by 5.00 pm Wednesday will be listed for the following Tuesday unless a request to the contrary is made at the time of filing. The only exceptions will be matters involving litigants in person, which will be listed for the second Tuesday following filing to give time for service, and originating proceedings which will be listed for the third Tuesday following filing to give time for service and entry of appearance. Matters where the estimated hearing time is 30 minutes or more may also be listed on Tuesdays if time is available. A second short causes day may be allocated from time to time if the need arises. Matters to be dealt with by telephone or video link will not be affected by the new arrangements.
