PUBLICATION OF JURY LISTS
Lists of potential jurors are available to prosecution and defence counsel about two days prior to the commencement of every criminal trial. Each list contains every potential juror's full name, suburb or town, year of birth, and sex.
To protect jurors' privacy, counsel are requested to ensure that they do not allow any client to retain a jury list after the empanelment of that client's jury. The list is provided by the Sheriff in the expectation that it will not be left in the possession of the accused, and that no copies will be made or circulated. Jury lists are provided well before the commencement of trials for the convenience of counsel and the accused. In some jurisdictions they are not made available until the empanelment is about to commence. Counsel are requested to co-operate by not allowing accused persons to retain jury lists, so that there will be no need to change the existing arrangements.
